| Functions of the Parish Registers |
| |
In the Parish Registry Repository of the EZA, people who have come from the former
eastern provinces of Germany and have lost their personal records during the war can be
issued substitute documents from the available registers from the former eastern provinces
of Germany. These are recognized as legally valid for retirement and inheritance purposes
and for family genealogical records. |
Requests for genealogical searches can be accepted only to a very limited extent. In gene-
ral, one must personally conduct one's research in our Reading Room. Of course, the staff
of our Parish Register Repository are available to advise and support you in your research.
Material in writing supplied by our personnel is for all applicants subject to fees. |
